   VINEYARDS

Located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the arid zone of voyages Cuyanas between 600 and 1,200 meters above sea level, where the rainfall does not exceed the annual average of 150 millimeters. These vines grow in the desert thanks to the irrigation provided by the melting snow of Andes Mountains throw the Rivers Mendoza, Tunuyán and Las Tunas.

The 60% of the plantations are in traditional driving systems, with an average age of 40 years.

In the past years has been implanted an area of 114 hectares between espalderos high density, with more than 5,500 plants per hectare, espalderos type Scott Henry, and parrales, particularly with a pressurized drip irrigation system in order to check out on water stress necessary for optimum quality of the vintages. It is now being tested a plantation in "Gualtallary" on the 1,400 meters above sea level, where the annual rainfall is 500 mm, with a density of 16,000 plants per hectare, irrigated, to produce a line of varietals of very low production and exceptional quality.

In terms of agrochemicals, during the cycle and depending on the weather, are performed only one to three treatments, depending on the variety and location of the vineyard, with Sulfur and Caldo Bordelais, according to the criterion of "Minimum Application of Pesticides."

The harvest of red varieties is conducted between late March and April, with an excellent health, a sugar degree that exceeds 225 g / lt and pH close to 3.40. The broad thermal prevailing since mid-January to March (7 ° C min-max 34 ° C), resulting in cool nights and relative humidity below 50% cause a complete maturation of soft tannins.
